The HSPS enhances safety in three primary ways:
- By solving the ultimate safety problems – Human survival problems are the ultimate safety problems and the HSPS is an intelligent computer system specially designed to solve human survival problems. The HSPS is the ultimate safety system.
- By focusing strictly on human survival problems – This eliminates problems with erratic, unsafe, and irrelevant data.
- By prioritizing human programming over machine programming – Machine Learning is currently a very popular AI technique. However, the use of Machine Learning (i.e. machine programming) on human survival problems is a major safety problem because it would allow the computer to make human survival decisions on its own. In the HSPS, machine programming is secondary to human programming.
